Since 600 horsepower of fun is almost cost-attainable for people in the form of a Mercedes CL 65 AMG I'm wondering if anyone has fitted a proper transmission to one of these beasts. I know they come with a slushbox, and I remember rumors of Renntech doing six-speed conversions. But also why not a proper dual-clutch gearbox? No human can shift as fast as a computer, and with the ubiquity of proper dual-clutch transmissions from all kinds of manufacturers, I think it would be an interesting project.

I'd love one with the venerable ZF8.

I don't know if a zf8 could handle all the torque, that's the reason mercedes stuck with the five speed until the W222

It's not that venerable. Introduced in 2008.

The ZF 8 speed can handle up to 750Nm of torque according to the manufacturers website. Not nearly enough for the 1000Nm of the CL65 atleast not without extensive modifications.
